Artificial Moon Theatre presents
THE BALD SOPRANO by Eugene Ionesco
In English, translation by Donald Allen
It is the not-too-distant future. Beneath the veneer of normalcy of a typical suburban evening, something is wrong. Nuance is dead. Disconnection has reached epidemic proportions. Flame-wars burn bright. Everybody is trigger-happy. Sense proves ephemeral.
In a world where absurdity (in the news? online? on social media?) is so commonplace we no longer bat an eyelid, Eugene Ionesco’s classic ‘anti-play’ remains as valid a critique of the human condition as it ever was.
